The Pros and Cons of Having a Newspaper Subscription
If you’re not sure whether or not you need a newspaper subscription, it’s best to look at both the pros and cons of having one.
Saving Money with a Subscription
A subscription will save you a lot of money compared to buying a daily newspaper at the newsstand. If you’re purchasing a paper anywhere from three to seven days a week, the savings can be great. However, if you’re only buying the paper one or two days a week, you will probably be better off just continuing to buy them individually. On the other hand, if you can get a Sunday-only delivery (or weekend delivery), the amount of money you’ll save with coupons can offset the price of the subscription.
The Convenience of a Subscription
Another factor to take into consideration is how convenient a subscription can be. If you have to go out of your way to pick up your daily paper, it is a waste of both time and gas. Having your paper delivered to your front door each morning can be both cheaper and much more convenient for you. The one consideration is delivery time. Will the paper be delivered early enough so that it comes before you leave for work? If not, then this may not be a good option for you because you will not be able to read the newspaper until you get home.
In general, having a newspaper subscription can be a great thing. You receive your paper directly to your door each day and save a ton of money off the newsstand price. However, if you’re one of those people who either doesn’t need a newspaper every day or you leave for work super early, then buying the paper each day will probably be a better option.
